Mixing Patterns and Prints

Mixing Patterns and Prints

When it comes to creating a fun, bold wardrobe, one must include a variation of patterns and prints! Now don’t get me wrong, I love wearing black, neutrals and solids. But the thing that takes a wardrobe to the next level is adding in those key statement pieces, whether it be a beautifully printed maxi dress or your favorite polkadot patterned pants. These are the pieces that give your style character; that set you apart and help you create a look all your own. Welcome to mixing patterns and prints!

I tend to pair most of my patterns + prints with basics and neutrals so that the fine detail of the piece stands out. Although, you’ll see on my blog that I am not afraid to pattern clash! The more the merrier in my book. But seeing as most people stick to one pattern, I’ll keep it simple here. When choosing a print or pattern, the first thing I recommend is find one that makes you happy. I love finding pieces that speak to me, that make my heart skip a beat and is something I genuinely love, not just a fad. What makes it even more special is when friends and family catch on to your style and can say, “hey this looks like something (your name) would wear!” Secondly, know your body and know what looks good on it. There are some patterns and prints that I just cannot wear, and that’s ok! Thirdly, just have fun! Try something new. It’s great to know what you like, but it’s even more great to try something you’ve never done before and find that you really like it!
Ok now it’s your turn. Get out there and find some beautifully printed and patterned pieces to add to your wardrobe, you will be sure glad you did!
