Hello & Welcome!

Welcome to the Kindred Street, a blog by Chrissy (I'm a little bit country) + Megan (I'm a little bit rock and roll). We are friends who, despite our different perspectives, share a common love for all things creative. Between balancing our lives as new moms and dreaming of starting something bigger than ourselves, we felt compelled to create a site dedicated to inspiring and encouraging women and providing an escape from the everyday. That something has become The Kindred Street! We hope to be a glimmer of light that brightens and enriches your day.

On the Kindred Street we feature: crafting adventures, recipes, our favorite things, cool places and personal reflections on life. We're so happy you're here! Welcome to the neighborhood.

Hello, I'm Chrissy. I'm a wife to a hardworking man who builds amazing stuff, mom to a spirited and awesome little boy and last but not least a marriage and family therapist. I'm a small town girl from the Bay Area now San Diego transplant and I wouldn't have it any other way. I love where I'm from, where I've been and where I'm going.

I write about my personal experiences as I journey through life and parenthood. I love sharing nuggets of info from my experience of working as a counselor. In addition to diving into deep subjects, I love taking pleasure in the lighter things in life… like an effortless outfit, beautifully designed home, or fun DIY challenge. I hope to inspire, encourage and bring you a delightful escape from the real world.

  • • My husband does almost all our cooking.
  • • I'm a sensitive soul.
  • • I find sanity in working out.
  • • I keep a journal and try to write in it daily.

Hi! I'm Megan. I live for good food, great music and solid high-fives. I'm a culinary school graduate, turned event planner, turned stay-at-home mama. These days, when I'm not hunting for spiders or building structurally sound block structures, you can usually find me in my tiny San Diego kitchen, music playing, husband and two-year-old sous chef by my side.

On The Kindred Street I share little glimpses into my world; recipes I love, music that's blowing my mind and things that make my life easier.

  • • I have dance parties in my car on a regular basis.
  • • I call Southern California home, but I'm an Iowa girl at heart.
  • • There are usually empty candy wrappers under my side of the bed (couch, car..). Don't judge, it's how I mark my territory.
  • • I have an endless desire to feed people. Want brownies at 10pm? I'm your girl!
